Area Sales Manager

Description Summary:

Develop and expand business within local LLO’s, Independent Operators and Local Multi Unit accounts to achieve targeted growth within the region. Collaborate as appropriate with broker partners and the Director of Food Service daily.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Become an expert in the products you're selling and understand the specific needs of different customer segments.
  • Learn to present and sell company products and services to current and potential clients, creating clear value propositions and unique solutions for all customers.
  • Regularly use the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) document to track sales activities, customer profiles, and record key information about interactions with customers in your assigned territory.
  • Every three months, develop detailed sales plans for important current and potential customers. These plans should include strategies for increasing product sales and enhancing customer relationships, based on their needs.
  • Conduct product presentations focused on how our products can meet customer needs and add value. Analyze the results of these presentations to improve future sales strategies.
  • Use available marketing materials and product offerings to create compelling sales propositions for customers.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Director of Food Service and Broker, discussing things like pricing, distribution issues, and new sales opportunities.
  • Provide support as needed for local broker or distributor training and market blitzes.
  • Write and supply regular and/or ad hoc reporting as required.
  • Meet the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) set by the Director of Food Service.
  • Attend national food shows and other relevant industry events to stay informed about market trends and network with potential clients.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management, Business or equivalent.
  • Experience: 2 years sales experience. Recent college graduates with sales experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of the Food Service and Hospitality industry is required.
  • Personal characteristics: Strong work ethic, the willingness and capability to be a self-starter, ability to make informed, independent judgments, strong interpersonal skills, negotiating and communication at all levels of an organization.
  • Computer skills: Must include proficiency in Google Suite (Mail, docs, spreadsheets, etc).
  • Travel: Work requires significant travel to current and potential clients. This requires the possession of a valid state driver’s license as well as access to a personal vehicle. Demonstrated ability and willingness to manage a geographical territory requires willingness to work a flexible schedule and regular overnight travel.
